Welcome to "Matoaka," our small island guest house located in West Tisbury, on Martha's Vineyard. Matoaka, a native Indian word for little toy, is located on the access road that is between the two entrances of Long Point, considered to have the best beach on the island. Long Point is a conservation, area of over 100 acres with osprey nests, beach grasses, and rolling dunes. Both the summer and winter/spring/fall entrances have spectacular views and opportunities for long walks along the beach .
Matoaka is a contemporary design on one and one half acres. The property is nicely landscaped with a lawn. and wove of trees lining the long driveway. There is complete privacy from the main house, a larger contemporary on the same property.
Outdoors you will find a side entrance leading to the living room.. The front of the house has a wrap around deck accessible from any of the two sliders and side door. Lounge chairs, an umbrella table and cushioned chairs invite outdoor dining and relaxation.
A combination vegetable, flower and herb garden is to the side of the large parking area to the front of the house. An outdoor shower, on the side of the house and installed by Walpole, has a changing area and complete privacy. Most people would agree that a vacation on Martha's Vineyard is not complete without showering outside after a day at the beach or shopping!
